The Story

Soudal Repair Express Cement is a high-speed, acrylic polymer-based repair filler with a granular, cement-like texture, specifically formulated for the quick and shrink-free repair of cracks, holes, and joints in concrete, brickwork, and masonry. Its high-density paste formulation (approx. 1.67 g/ml) closely replicates the surface texture and weight of cement — ideal for achieving seamless repairs on steps, sills, kerbs, and structural surfaces. Gun-applicable or hand-trowelled, it skins in approximately 30 minutes, tolerates internal and external environments, and is paintable once cured. Available in four pre-matched colours — Beige, Grey, Brick Red, and Dark Grey — to minimise visible repair lines. Manufactured by Soudal, Europe's largest independent sealant and adhesive producer.

⚠ Substrate Compatibility — Check Before Applying
Repair Express Cement bonds well to all common porous building substrates (concrete, cement, brick, render). It does not adhere to natural stone, bituminous substrates, glass, metal, PE, PP, or PTFE (Teflon®). Always carry out a preliminary adhesion test. Highly porous surfaces should be primed with a diluted solution (1 part product : 2 parts water) before full application.
⚠ Application Restrictions
Do not apply when rain or frost is imminent during the curing process. Application temperature must remain between +5°C and +30°C. Not suitable for expansion joints (max allowable joint movement <5%). Do not use where continuous water immersion is possible. Shelf life is 12 months — store unopened in a cool, dry location between +5°C and +25°C, protected from frost.
ℹ Colour Selection Guide
Four variants are available to match the most common UK masonry and concrete surfaces. Select the shade closest to the substrate to minimise visible repair lines. Paintable once fully cured — check paint elasticity and carry out a compatibility test if applying over a plasto-elastic surface.

Shrink-Free Curing

Unlike standard fillers that contract as they dry and leave proud or sunken patches, Repair Express Cement cures without dimensional change — the filled surface remains flush with the surrounding substrate, eliminating the need for second passes on most repairs.

Gunnable & Trowel-Ready

Supplied in a standard 290ml cartridge compatible with manual, pneumatic, or battery caulking guns. Can also be applied and finished with a putty knife or trowel for tight joints. Finishing wet gives the smoothest result.

Interior & Exterior

Temperature resistance from −20°C to +80°C makes it suitable for exposed external use as well as internal applications. Apply between +5°C and +30°C for reliable adhesion and cure.

Fast Skin Formation

Skin forms in approximately 30 minutes, allowing rapid overpainting or subsequent protection. For deep cracks, a second layer can be applied after approximately 1 hour. Environmental conditions (temperature, porosity, humidity) influence actual cure speed.

Paintable Finish

Accepts most paints once cured. The paint film must be sufficiently elastic when applied over the plasto-elastic repaired surface — carry out a compatibility test before applying rigid or brittle paint systems.

Water-Soluble Before Cure

Before curing, excess material and tool contamination can be cleaned with water — no solvents required. Repair with the same product if rework is needed after curing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which colour should I select for my repair?
Grey (EXPCEMG) suits most standard concrete, kerb, and render repairs. Beige (EXPCEMB) suits lighter sand-coloured brickwork and buff concrete. Brick Red (EXPCEMBR) is for red clay brick joints and facings. Dark Grey (EXPCEMDG) suits engineering brick, paving, and dark concrete. All four colours are paintable once cured if an exact match is needed.
How deep a crack can I fill in one application?
For cracks and gaps up to approximately 5mm wide and moderately deep, a single pass is usually sufficient. For large or deep voids — such as broken concrete steps, large screw holes, or wide static joints — apply a first layer, allow approximately 1 hour for initial cure (depending on porosity), then apply a second layer to finish flush.
Can I use Repair Express Cement on a damp surface?
The substrate must be clean, dry, and free of dust and grease before application. Do not apply to wet or frozen surfaces, and avoid application when rain or frost is expected before the product has skinned and cured. The product is not suitable for areas subject to continuous water immersion.
Is this product suitable for expansion joints?
No. Repair Express Cement tolerates static joint movement only (less than 5%) and is not appropriate for expansion joints or any joint subject to dynamic movement. For expansion joints, use a dedicated elastic sealant suitable for your substrate type.
Do I need a special gun to apply it?
Any standard 290ml caulking gun — manual, pneumatic, or battery-powered — is compatible. The thick paste consistency means a higher-ratio gun (18:1 or greater) is recommended for extended use to reduce hand fatigue. For small, targeted repairs, the product can equally be scooped and applied by spatula or trowel.
