The Story

The SolarEdge Wireless Repeater SE-WFRPT-B-S1-RW extends the wireless reach of a SolarEdge Wireless Gateway (SE-WFGW-B-S1-RW), bridging the signal between a SetApp-enabled inverter and the gateway wherever distance, walls or building layout would otherwise weaken the link. The repeater connects entirely wirelessly — there's no Ethernet cable to run — so it can be plugged into any convenient socket along the signal path. Up to two repeaters can be chained per installation, extending coverage to garages, outbuildings, lofts and multi-storey properties. Wall-plug indoor unit, BS 1363-1 plug, backed by a 5-year warranty.

⚠ Requires a SolarEdge Wireless Gateway — Not a Standalone Product
This repeater cannot operate on its own. It must be paired with a SolarEdge Wireless Gateway (SE-WFGW-B-S1-RW), which is sold separately and is the master unit that connects the wireless network to the home Internet router. Compatible only with SetApp-enabled residential inverters — inverters using LCD-based configuration or a plug-in ZigBee/cellular module are not supported.
⚑ Up to Two Repeaters — Placement Matters
A single Wireless Gateway supports a maximum of two repeaters on the network. For best results, position each repeater roughly midway between the gateway and the inverter (or between two repeaters in a chain), avoiding metal-clad walls, foil-backed insulation and large appliances that can attenuate the 2.4 GHz signal. Order one unit per repeater hop required — this listing is for a single SE-WFRPT-B-S1-RW unit.
How the repeater fits into the network
Unlike the gateway, the repeater's connection to both the inverter and the gateway is fully wireless — no Ethernet cable is required at the repeater's location. This makes it simple to drop into a hallway socket, garage outlet or landing plug partway along the signal path, extending coverage without any additional cabling work.
Fully Wireless Bridge
No Ethernet run required at the repeater — it relays the Wi-Fi signal between gateway and inverter, so it can be installed anywhere there's a mains socket along the signal path.
Extends Range to Difficult Locations
Bridges the gap to inverters in garages, lofts, outbuildings or far corners of multi-storey properties where a direct gateway-to-inverter link would otherwise drop out.
Up to Two-Hop Chaining
Combine two repeaters on a single gateway network to cover larger or more obstructed properties, stepping the signal across multiple rooms or floors.
Matched RF Performance
Shares the same 802.11 b/g/n radio, 15 dBm transmit power and 5 dBi antenna gain as the gateway, so signal quality is preserved across each hop rather than degraded.
Simple Wall-Plug Installation
A compact, lightweight unit that plugs directly into a UK BS 1363-1 13 A socket — no tools, no rewiring, no electrician required for placement or relocation.
Secure, Closed Network
Operates on the same WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK encrypted closed network as the gateway, keeping the PV monitoring link isolated from your household Wi-Fi.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a Wireless Gateway as well as this repeater?
Yes — the repeater is an accessory to the SolarEdge Wireless Gateway (SE-WFGW-B-S1-RW) and cannot function on its own. The gateway is the master unit that links the wireless network to your home router via Ethernet; the repeater simply extends the Wi-Fi reach between the gateway and the inverter. If you don't already have a gateway installed, order one alongside this repeater.
How many repeaters can I use on one system?
A single Wireless Gateway supports a maximum of two repeaters. For most domestic installs one repeater is sufficient to bridge a garage, loft conversion or an inverter positioned at the far end of the property; a second can be added for larger or more obstructed layouts. Each repeater is ordered as a separate unit — this listing covers one SE-WFRPT-B-S1-RW.
Does the repeater need to be wired to the router?
No. Unlike the gateway, which uses a hardwired Ethernet connection to the router, the repeater connects to both the gateway and the inverter entirely over Wi-Fi. It only needs a mains power socket — no cabling work is required, making it straightforward to position or relocate during commissioning.
Where should I position the repeater for best performance?
Place it roughly midway between the gateway and the inverter (or between hops, if using two repeaters), ideally with line-of-sight or minimal obstruction. Avoid mounting it behind metal-clad doors, foil-backed insulation, large appliances or thick masonry walls, all of which attenuate the 2.4 GHz signal. A standard wall socket in a hallway, landing or utility space usually works well.
Is this repeater compatible with older SolarEdge ZigBee or cellular gateways?
No. The SE-WFRPT-B-S1-RW is designed specifically to work with the SolarEdge Wi-Fi Wireless Gateway (SE-WFGW-B-S1-RW) and SetApp-enabled inverters. It is not compatible with the older ZigBee Gateway or with cellular communication kits, which use different radio technologies and network architectures.
Can the repeater be installed outdoors or in a damp utility room?
No — the unit carries an IP20 rating, meaning it's designed for protected indoor use only and is not protected against moisture or water ingress. It should be sited indoors, away from condensation-prone areas, with an operating temperature range of −20 °C to +60 °C covering most UK garages, lofts and utility spaces.
