The Story

The ZL-1039 Euroconus Fitting range provides a secure, tool-light compression connection between multilayer (Multi/PEX), PERT, and PEX underfloor heating pipe and the ¾" Euroconus ports on standard UFH manifolds. Available in three pipe sizes — 12×2mm, 15×2mm, and 16×2mm — each variant is supplied as a pair of brass fittings consisting of a compression nut, pipe support insert, and split olive. No solder, crimping press, or PTFE tape is required: a rotary pipe cutter and a spanner are the only tools needed for a reliable, long-term joint. Select the variant that matches the outside diameter and wall thickness of your installed UFH pipe.

Installer Note: Cut pipe square and clean using a rotary pipe cutter — a hacksaw leaves a ragged edge that will prevent correct olive seating. Always fit the pipe support insert inside the pipe bore before tightening the compression nut. Without the insert the pipe wall will collapse under the olive, resulting in a failed joint. Tighten to a firm hand-stop then a further ¾ to 1 full turn with a spanner only — do not over-torque.
Size Selection — Critical: The three variants are not interchangeable. Verify your pipe's outside diameter (OD) and wall thickness before ordering — pipe markings typically show OD × wall (e.g. "15×2"). Fitting a larger pipe into a smaller Euroconus will produce an incomplete compression and a potential leak under pressure.
Quantity Guide: Each pack contains two fittings — enough for one complete heating loop (one connection to the flow rail, one to the return rail). For a 6-loop manifold, order 6 packs. Match packs to your total circuit count.
Compression Joint — No Specialist Tools

The Euroconus compression principle relies on the split olive biting into the pipe outer surface while the internal support insert prevents bore collapse. The result is a joint that needs only a pipe cutter and a spanner — no crimping press, no solder, no powered tooling — making it the most site-accessible UFH connection method available.

Brass Construction

Nut, support insert, and split olive are all brass — providing strength, corrosion resistance, and long-term reliability within closed hydronic circuits. Brass Euroconus fittings are compatible with all common system inhibitors and glycol solutions used in heat pump, solar thermal, and conventional boiler UFH installations.

Multi/PEX, PERT & PEX Compatible

All three variants are designed for multilayer (PEX-AL-PEX), PERT, and PEX pipe — the industry-standard UFH pipe types for screed, overlay-board, and joisted-floor systems. The pipe support insert is profiled to accommodate the composite wall structure of multilayer barrier pipe without crushing the aluminium oxygen-barrier layer.

Universal ¾" Euroconus Manifold Interface

All variants connect into the ¾" Euroconus ports found on the ZL-117502 to ZL-117512 stainless steel manifold range and the vast majority of European UFH manifolds. The Euroconus interface is a widely adopted standard — no proprietary adapter or thread conversion is required.

No Sealant Required

The Euroconus joint is entirely mechanical — the compressed olive forms the seal against the pipe and the manifold port seat. No PTFE tape, thread sealant, or jointing compound should be applied: doing so can interfere with correct olive seating and reduce joint reliability.

Three Sizes — One Solution

The 12×2mm variant suits smaller-bore UFH pipe used in low-profile and overlay-board systems. 15×2mm is a widely used size across screeded and joisted-floor systems. 16×2mm is the larger-bore option common on higher-output multi-zone layouts. Stock all three for multi-system projects.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know which size to order?
Check the marking printed on the pipe itself — UFH pipe is labelled with its outside diameter and wall thickness, for example "15×2.0" or "16×2.0". If the pipe is already installed and unlabelled, measure the outside diameter with a calliper and select the matching variant: ZL-1039/12 for 12mm OD, ZL-1039/15 for 15mm OD, ZL-1039/16 for 16mm OD. Do not attempt to estimate by eye — the three sizes look similar and are not interchangeable.
How many packs do I need for my system?
Each pack contains two fittings — enough for one complete heating loop (one connection at the flow rail, one at the return). Count your total number of circuits and order that many packs. For example, a 6-port manifold serving 6 loops requires 6 packs (12 fittings).
Can I reuse a Euroconus fitting after dismantling?
The split olive deforms permanently when tightened onto the pipe and should not be reused. The compression nut and support insert can typically be retained, but always fit a new olive when remaking a joint to ensure a reliable seal. In practice, fitting a complete new Euroconus pair is the simplest and most reliable approach for any remake.
Are these fittings suitable for PEX-AL-PEX barrier pipe?
Yes. All three variants are designed for multilayer PEX-AL-PEX barrier pipe as well as plain PEX and PERT. The pipe support insert is specifically profiled to support the composite wall — which includes an aluminium oxygen-barrier layer — preventing it from collapsing under the olive during compression. This is why fitting the insert is mandatory and must not be omitted.
Do these fit the ZL-117502 to ZL-117512 stainless steel manifolds?
Yes — the ZL-1039 series connects directly to the ¾" Euroconus circuit ports on the ZL-117502 to ZL-117512 manifold range. No adapter or conversion fitting is required. Simply insert the pipe (with support insert in place), slide the compression nut over the pipe end, thread it into the manifold port, and tighten to the specified torque.
Is PTFE tape or sealant needed on the thread?
No — do not apply PTFE tape or thread sealant to a Euroconus connection. The joint is sealed entirely by the mechanical compression of the olive against the pipe outer surface and the manifold port seat. Adding sealant can prevent the olive from seating correctly and may actually reduce joint integrity rather than improve it.
