The Story

The Enphase IQ Battery 5P (order code IQBATTERY-5P-1P-INT) is Enphase's most powerful residential battery — a fully integrated, AC-coupled all-in-one energy storage system built for the UK grid. With 5.0 kWh usable capacity, six embedded IQ8D-BAT Microinverters, and a 3.2 kVA continuous output at 230V / 50Hz, it is engineered to maximise self-consumption from any solar installation and provide whole-home backup capability during grid outages. Unlike conventional battery inverter systems, the IQ Battery 5P contains its power conversion electronics — including battery management, AC inversion, and communications — in a single wall- or floor-mounted unit, eliminating separate hybrid inverters and simplifying commissioning. Fully certified to G98, G99, G99 NI, G100-2 and compliant with UK grid standards, it carries the CE mark and a 15-year limited warranty backed by up to 6,000 cycles.

Can I add an IQ Battery 5P to my existing solar installation?
Yes. Because the IQ Battery 5P is AC-coupled, it connects to the AC side of your consumer unit and works alongside any existing solar installation — whether that uses Enphase IQ Microinverters, legacy M-series Enphase systems, or third-party string inverters. No modifications to your existing solar equipment are required. You will need to add a Communications Kit 2 INT if your site does not already have an IQ Combiner 5/5C.
What is the difference between Self-Consumption and Full Backup mode?
In Self-Consumption mode, the battery charges from excess solar generation during the day and discharges to power the home in the evening — reducing grid import and electricity bills. The battery does not power the home during a grid outage in this mode. Full Backup mode additionally enables the battery to seamlessly power the home during a grid failure, and requires the IQ System Controller 3 INT to provide the microgrid interconnection device (MID) functionality that automatically detects and manages the transition.
