The Story

The EHC Comet PV 14.4kW/200L Electric Boiler & Indirect Cylinder Package (EHCEPV14.4/200IND) pairs a multi-output electric system boiler, field-configurable across 7.2 / 9.6 / 12.0 / 14.4kW, with a 200-litre Neptune Indirect Unvented Stainless Steel Cylinder. Supplied as a matched heat pack from The Electric Heating Company, it is designed as a single-source solution for wet central heating, underfloor heating, and domestic hot water in properties without mains gas — with Solar PV integration, weather compensation, and optional Smart App control built in as standard.

Qualified Installation Required

This boiler must be installed, commissioned, and electrically connected by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS7671. The unvented cylinder is a controlled service under Building Regulation G3 (England & Wales), Technical Standard P3 (Scotland), or Building Regulation Part F (Northern Ireland) and must only be fitted by a competent, G3-qualified installer. A magnetic filter must be fitted to the boiler — failure to do so will invalidate the manufacturer's warranty.

Solar PV & Smart Control Ready

The boiler's FN input can be wired directly to a solar PV inverter's load-management relay, allowing surplus generation to be diverted into space heating or the cylinder's domestic hot water (up to 60°C) instead of exporting to the grid. Adding the optional C.MI2 Internet Module (AHP1004) unlocks remote app control, while the C.MG3 Heating Zone Control Module (EC10018) allows the boiler to manage multiple heating circuits — for example underfloor heating and radiators — at independent temperatures.

Nominal 200L / Actual 210L Cylinder Capacity

This package is sold under EHC's "200L" product designation (MPN EHCEPV14.4/200IND), but the Neptune Indirect cylinder supplied is the manufacturer's 210-litre model — the nearest cylinder size in the Neptune Indirect range, with a listed capacity of 210 litres on EHC's own technical data sheet. Dimensions and performance figures on this page reflect that 210L unit. Please confirm the exact cylinder footprint against the site survey before ordering.

Field-Configurable Output

A single boiler chassis covers 7.2, 9.6, 12.0, or 14.4kW via an on-board DIP switch, so installers can right-size the heat output to the building's calculated heat loss without stocking multiple boiler models.

Faster DHW Recovery

The Neptune Indirect cylinder uses a 0.86m² coil with a 23.08kW rating, giving a full heat-up time of around 33 minutes and a 70% reheat in roughly 26 minutes — markedly quicker than an equivalent direct (immersion-only) cylinder.

Weather Compensation

An outdoor temperature sensor (Tos) lets the boiler's controller adjust flow temperature to a selectable heating curve, reducing energy use during milder weather while maintaining comfort during cold snaps.

Automatic Anti-Legionella Cycle

A configurable disinfection routine raises cylinder temperature to a set point on a chosen day and time, addressing Legionella risk without requiring manual intervention.

Backup Immersion Heating

The cylinder's 3kW Incoloy immersion element, rated 45–65°C with an 85°C high-limit cut-out, provides electric backup water heating independent of the boiler's primary circuit.

Cascade & Multi-Zone Capable

Up to 32 Comet PV boilers can be linked via RS485 bus into a cascade for higher-demand installations, and the boiler's three-way valve control supports simultaneous space heating and DHW priority logic.

Can the boiler output be changed after installation?
Yes. The Comet PV Model 2 chassis is field-configurable between 7.2, 9.6, 12.0, and 14.4kW using the on-board DIP switches, and the maximum rated power is also set in the boiler's on-screen configuration menu during commissioning.
Does this package include solar PV integration hardware?
The boiler is pre-wired for PV mode via its FN input, but the connection to a solar inverter's load-management relay (and any intermediate relay if required) is completed on site. No inverter or PV-specific hardware is included in this package.
What is the difference between this and a direct cylinder package?
The 200L/210L Neptune Indirect cylinder is heated primarily via a coil connected to the Comet PV boiler's primary circuit, giving significantly faster reheat than a direct (immersion-only) cylinder of the same size. The 3kW immersion heater is retained as a backup or secondary heat source.
Is a magnetic filter included?
No. A magnetic filter is not included but is a mandatory fit on all Comet PV boiler installations — omitting one will invalidate the manufacturer's boiler warranty.
Can this boiler run multiple heating zones, such as underfloor heating and radiators?
Yes, when fitted with the optional C.MG3 Heating Zone Control Module (EC10018), the Comet PV can manage several heating circuits at independent temperatures from a single boiler.
How long does hot water take to reheat?
The 210L Neptune Indirect cylinder has a full heat-up time of approximately 33 minutes and reaches 70% recovery in around 26 minutes when driven by the boiler's primary circuit at full output.
