The EHC Comet PV 14.4kW Electric Boiler & 200L Direct Cylinder Package (EHCEPV14.4/200) pairs a multi-output electric system boiler, field-configurable across 7.2 / 9.6 / 12.0 / 14.4kW, with a 200-litre Neptune Direct Unvented Stainless Steel Cylinder. Unlike an indirect cylinder, the Direct cylinder is heated purely by its own twin 3kW immersion elements, so the boiler is dedicated entirely to space heating — a straightforward configuration for properties with lower hot water demand or where heating and hot water are intentionally kept independent.
Qualified Installation Required
This boiler must be installed, commissioned, and electrically connected by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS7671. The unvented cylinder is a controlled service under Building Regulation G3 (England & Wales), Technical Standard P3 (Scotland), or Building Regulation Part F (Northern Ireland) and must only be fitted by a competent, G3-qualified installer. A magnetic filter must be fitted to the boiler — failure to do so will invalidate the manufacturer's warranty.
Boiler Dedicated to Space Heating
Because the Direct cylinder heats independently via its own immersion elements, the Comet PV boiler in this package can be commissioned for heating only, simplifying control wiring where a separate, self-contained hot water solution is preferred. The boiler retains its full feature set — Solar PV integration, weather compensation, and optional Smart App control via the C.MI2 Internet Module — for the heating circuit.
Direct Cylinder Has No Faster-Reheat Coil
Unlike the equivalent Indirect (200IND) package, this Direct cylinder has no internal coil connected to the boiler's primary circuit — all hot water is generated by the two 3kW immersion elements. Recovery time will be slower than an Indirect cylinder of the same capacity. Where a property has high or frequent hot water demand, consider the Indirect (EHCEPV14.4/200IND) or Pre-Plumbed Indirect (EHCEPV14.4/200PPC) packages instead.
